Curious about what might replace the abandoned Riverside Golf Course space? Adrenaline Sports Resorts (ASR) has submitted plans to develop the 126-acre lot into the Riverside Adventure Center, with an estimated 500,000 visitors per year as an introductory figure. The plan includes activities such as whitewater rafting, a wave lagoon with surf park, a boat house, zip lines and rope courses. Additionally, the development will include 722 affordable housing units; a 4-story hotel and conference center with 150 rooms; a 20,000-square-foot athlete hostel; a town center; and even a grocery store. The development will also have hiking, trails, kids’ play areas, open spaces and a connection to Reid Park. It will be open to the public

Sports Center, Hotel, Trails and More Coming to Riverside
The 126-acre site was once the Riverside Golf Course, but has been vacant since it closed in September of 2009 due to bankruptcy. However, in February of this year, the Riverside City Council approved a plan to turn this vacant site into a $200 million Adventure Center.
The project will not be financed by the City’s General Fund and will not be considered for participating in any financing districts or public bonding mechanisms that are procured by the City to upgrade the Northside. The project represents a capital investment from master developer, Adrenaline Sports Resorts.
. The Riverside Adventure Center will promote an active lifestyle and wellness by hosting events like 5ks, cross country running and walkathons. The planned hotel for athletes and park guests to enjoy is also a great perk to the overall development plans.
This amazing new development isn’t going to just be all fun and games either! This site is also going to offer training grounds for emergency personnel and first responders

Riverside Adventure Center Will Bring Benefits to Community and Tourists Alike
Adrenaline Sports Resorts. says the project is going to yield an estimated cost savings of $3.9 million annually for the City of Riverside. It’s also going to use two holes less water than the golf course that was previously on the site.
Access to this awesome place will be free to the public. Activities will be a mix of free and fee-based. It will become a community gathering place rooted in healthy living, sharing the goals of the City’s Blue Zone Project while also creating 2,800 jobs.
Adrenaline Sports Resorts also plans to have specific activities for youth, filling a need in the community. There are plans to host summer camps; team-building youth programs; and field trips to help provide hands-on educational and recreational learning opportunities.
A proposed trail within the project will connect to the Springbrook Arroyo trail system and facilitate a safe environment for community events.
The southern portions of the site are envisioned to be a mixed-use town center, which will include commercial, hotel and residential uses that bring economic vitality to the City of Riverside. A neighborhood commercial grocery store – with a selection of whole and healthy foods – within the Northside Village Center will be convenient for visitors staying onsite.
The residential component will include affordable units that add to the diversity of Riverside’s housing market and aid in the housing crisis. Their development is going to be designed for pedestrian-oriented retail uses, which will be available to future and existing residents and visitors.
Looking ahead into the future, Adrenaline Sports Resorts has many more plans to expand offerings in the City of Riverside and would love as much support as they can get in this journey! For example, their Northside plan will revitalize a 56-acre property that was once the Ab Brown Sports complex, which has been vacant since 2018. We can’t wait to see what these new developments bring to the City of Riverside and its residents!
